Terms of Service
Last updated: February 6, 2026
1. Service Description
Shim provides a JSON repair API for LLM outputs. You send malformed JSON, we return valid JSON. The service is provided as-is with a 99.9% uptime SLA for Pro and Team tiers.
2. Acceptable Use
You may not use Shim to:
- Violate laws or regulations
- Abuse rate limits or attempt to bypass throttling
- Share API keys with third parties
- Reverse engineer the repair algorithms
- Store or transmit malware, viruses, or harmful code
Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension without refund.
3. API Keys and Security
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your API keys secret
- Rotating keys if they are compromised
- All activity that occurs under your API keys
If your key is compromised, revoke it immediately in the console. You are liable for unauthorized usage until the key is revoked.
4. Billing and Payment
Free tier: 1,000 repairs/month at no cost. Pro tier: $29/month for 100,000 repairs/month. Team tier: $99/month for 1,000,000 repairs/month, plus $0.30 per 1,000 additional repairs over the limit.
Payment is processed via Stripe. You authorize us to charge your payment method on file each billing cycle. Overage charges (Team tier only) are billed at the end of each month.
No refunds. You may cancel anytime and retain access until the end of your billing period.
5. Service Limits
Tier-based rate limits:
- Free: 100 requests/minute
- Pro: 1,000 requests/minute
- Team: 10,000 requests/minute
Free and Pro tiers throttle when you exceed 110% of your monthly limit. Team tier never throttles but bills for overages automatically.
6. Service Availability
Pro and Team tiers include a 99.9% uptime SLA. If we fail to meet this SLA, you may request a service credit equal to 10% of your monthly fee for each 0.1% below 99.9%.
SLA credits do not apply to downtime caused by third-party services (Cloudflare, Stripe), scheduled maintenance (with 48h notice), or your misuse of the API.
Free tier has no SLA. The service is provided as-is with no uptime guarantees.
7. Data Handling
Shim does not store your raw JSON data. We only store metadata (repair types, confidence scores, timestamps) for 90 days. See our Privacy Policy for details.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to your JSON data. Shim retains all rights to the repair algorithms, API infrastructure, and documentation.
You may not copy, modify, or reverse engineer the Shim service or its underlying technology.
9. Limitation of Liability
Shim is provided as-is without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:
- Lost profits or business interruption
- Data loss (we don't store your data anyway)
- Third-party claims arising from your use of the service
- Incorrect or unsafe JSON repairs (check confidence scores)
Maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid in the past 12 months.
10. Termination
You may cancel your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these terms.
Upon termination, all API keys are revoked and all metadata is deleted within 90 days.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Material changes (pricing, SLA, data handling) will be announced via email 30 days in advance.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA. Disputes will be resolved in Delaware courts.
